summer in southern france – is a declaration of love for life par excellence
These beautiful harbors attracts specially sailors from all over the world, many regattas take place here of course – I love it.
This mediterranean coast – from St. Tropez til Nizza – also attracted many artists and writers & inspiring them – each one in their own individual way. Fortunately here are wonderful museums to visit with their more or less well-known works. You simply can not escape this overabundance of colors.
To my surprise it was – indeed – Queen Victoria of England, actually she was the first, which discovered this region. Of course, she was not the only one, the Jet-Set followed her.
The background of this landscape consists of a unique maritime alpine region that does not exist nowhere else – for example ‘Gorge de Verdun’ or the ‘Massif de l’Esterel’ – is one of my favorite – incredibly beautiful and bizarre! You can admire them while driving on the beautiful coast road ‘Corniche d’Or’.
… and as if that were not beautiful enough, behind the maritime alps begins the grandiose provence region. You can find here the tastiest gourmet products of a prime quality (harvest and production in an old tradition).
This is not only true delicious for culinary delights, no, the smell buds of the most beautiful perfumes are also produced here. OMG!
To escape the hustle and bustle, offers the beautiful island ‘Île Saint-Honorat’, you can bring here for a picnic – baguette, cheese, wine and olives and enjoy them in one of the many enchanted bays, possibly also privately swim.
You see, there are countless very good reasons to come here.
Do not wait, wonderful 3-4 course menus are waiting for you here – live like god in france 🙂 I swear, you will not regret it…
I agree with you, I love living on the French Riviera!

…yes, the ‘Best Western Plus Le Patio Des Artistes’ in Cannes. It’s closed to the Croisette, excellent rooms and you get a pretty good breakfast 🙂

These photos and complementary contents underscore why so many artists have been drawn to this area (Cezanne, Matisse, van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Chagall, etc.),and why so many paint manufacturers incorporate colors with this location as their namesakes (e.g., Cote D’azur and Riviera Azure). I am not able to travel here currently, but it is on my bucket list! In the meantime, I bring in its color wheel in found objects to brighten my day!

Yes. It is stunning. However, after living here for eleven years, I can’t find any part of the country that I don’t enjoy. Have you visited Collioure? Picasso, Van Gogh and the rest all fell in love with it. For me, it is stunning and much closer to home.

We had a holiday here many, many years ago. We especially enjoyed Eze (cactuses) and Grasse (perfumes), and Monaco was not far away either. It was great! ☺

We stayed in A 200 yr old Cavaillon farmhouse as our base in the Luberon/ Alpilles for 10 days. Then moves to Cap Antibes for another 10 days, Finally ending in Nîmes and the Camarque for the last. Made many picnics of rosé, Camembert, jambon crú, tepanade, áioli and French baguette, but did not gain a kilo because we walked everywhere! 🇫🇷

The Cote d’Azur is on our list. We originally intended to drive there from Liguria, but eventually did not have the time. Thanks for liking my post on our adventures through Liguria. Have you also been to Marseille? (we originally booked our hotel there before we cancelled our trip)
